It's really choppy and suuuuuper scribbly because I took like 30 seconds to draw each frame. Please fill in the gaps and gloss over the art with your wonderful imagination! I made it in Windows Movie Maker which is an absolutely evil program =o=

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Portal Kickstarter coming at last!

Now that my Portal short film, Companionship, has Valve's blessings, we're cleared to go ahead and raise funds for it on Kickstarter!



So expect a launch announcement in the next two or three weeks. We'll be offering some pretty sweet backer rewards, like Blu-ray copies of the film, signed posters, art books, portal gun replicas, even a chance to win the iPad I'm using for the production, full of all kinds of behind-the-scenes material and with an image from the film laser-etched into the back!

But my personal favorite is the one-of-a-kind figurines, 3D-printed straight out of the film itself. You pick your favorite moment from the film, we'll snag Chell's pose from that moment, and have that printed as your personal custom figurine forever!



I can't really express how excited I am for all of this...

We haven't locked in the backer amounts for each item yet, but it will definitely be well up there. The cost alone of having them printed in a good material is already around 200 bucks :/
